Cassidy (b.1998) is from Thirroul, a small town on Australia’s South-East coast, and is currently based in Byron Bay Hinterland where she works from her home-studio. Exploring expressionist, and figurative styles, Cassidy see’s boundless value in using Art as a modality to explore the depth of her own personal and emotional landscape.

“The feminine form is effortlessly elegant and graceful. It’s forever my most adorned muse. I love painting women in a restful state, so I can live vicariously through my figures. It brings me peace. Similarly to when I’ve done theatre and embodied a new character, it’s like I can create a world of my own and give it a tangible lifetime.”

Cassidy was drawn to the arts from a young age. With a background in musical theatre, Cassidy began to integrate drawing into her creative practice, which slowly lead to painting, and to exhibiting in her first Gallery exhibition in 2013 at age 15.

“Abstraction is a deeply somatic practice for me. When my mind quietens, and I dip into that state of flow, it’s like a moving meditation. My studio is a refuge for my emotions, a space for catharsis.”
